Coming Soon …
TavenMoore.com
It’s not that I’m tired of TamiMoore.com (far from it!) but rather that branding matters, and I don’t write alone.
I sit at the keyboard and pound out words alone, but any writer will tell you that’s the mechanical part. The heart and soul of a story are kindled separately, and that kindling is always done with the assistance of my husband, Steven.
Tami and Steven = Taven.
Thus, TamiMoore.com will turn into TavenMoore.com soon.
You can actually type TavenMoore.com into the browser and it’ll send you here, but the “official” swap is still pending a few tweaks.
Changes
All the old content will be here, with the addition of new content added by my husband and sometimes our friends.
To reflect the fact that it’s no longer JUST me, the blog will also get a new look and feel – something a little less “happy pastel Tami” and a little more “us”.
Steven’s content will also be a little less filtered. There may be naughty words and links to sites that contain NSFW content.
We talked a long time about whether or not I wanted to shift the site this direction – folks can come here and get almost perfectly “clean” content, and being publicly associated with a blog that swears and links to less-than-proper stuff may hurt my chances of being published.
In the end, I decided to make the change. My writing is US, why shouldn’t my blog be? I swear and laugh at the same videos he’s going to share here, and my writing isn’t all stories about lost piglets and peppermint candy. My last story had an old guy punching a unicorn in the nose, for pity’s sake.
We’re NOT going to start posting porn or anything (just in case I’ve frightened anyone).
I suppose I could flog that particular horse a bit more if I wanted, but I’ll just say that if you have any questions or concerns that I can give more detail on, please feel free to comment (or email if you’d prefer to comment privately).
Another Reason For Taven
There’s another reason for the site name to change to “Taven”, beyond just clever name squishing.
We have a fantasy world that we have been building since 2000. That world is called Taven and there are stories beyond imagining that have been waiting for me to grow confident enough to write them.
I think I have reached that point. As soon as I’m done with this Holly Lisle course, I’ll be celebrating by starting work on the first Taven book. Zonduth book 1 : Kindle’s Revenge. (Okay, no, it won’t be called that, but it sounds very exciting, doesn’t it?)
Besides, the new blog theme is really pretty. :D
The Fate of TamiMoore.com
I plan on keeping the domain. It should keep working as-is, and I’m going to try and make it so that no old links will fail – they’ll just redirect to the same page on TavenMoore.com.
*fingers crossed*

I will miss TamiMoore.com but I will happily join TavenMoore.com. Will Mr. Steven’s post themselves occasionally be NSFW? or just occasional links? I DO read your blog at work sometimes, so I may need to change it to at-home blog only.
I like lost piglets. sometimes I accuse E of making gruntle noises. it’s sweet.
There shouldn’t be NSFW pictures on the blog ever, I’d think. There might be language and links to other places that are NSFW though. Might start tagging those posts with “NSFW” just to give a visual hint. =]
E’s happy faces are awesome. I can’t imagine her gruntling. I think that’d be too adorable to handle.
Honestly, I guess I need to know what NSFW really means.
Is it curse words or images of violence or images of a more sexual nature?
Language may be the most difficult of these faux pauxs to avoid. Chime in though, let me know what you think.
I’m more concerned about the images – for work viewing. curse words are ok, though if it’s really raunchy in nature, I’d have to save it for home. or avoid that post for the sake of my innocent eyes!
You can be our NSFW police. I don’t anticipate any imagery that would cause concern on my site, but if you see something that makes you go, “Hmmm,” I’d like you to email me if you remember and feel like it.

Looking forward to it. A LOT!
Woot! <3 Thanks for the vote of support!
Is it okay that I mentally rearranged your sentence, so that it was, “I’m looking forward to it, alot!” and then I imagine you high-fiving an alot?
like
Only if you draw a picture of an alot so I know wth you’re talking about. ;)
I can do one better.
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html
Sorry, but that is not better: YOU didn’t draw it. (Great try though!) <3
Piffle, her stuff is HILARIOUS. Besides, you stated the need for the drawing is so you’d know what I was talking about. Need fulfilled. *dusts hands*
Piffle yourself, dear lady: Clearly, you are avoiding my too-obvious ploy to get you to display more of your artwork here. Oh…and, I’ve seen that before. ;)
(Note to the fan club: I tried.)
Thanks Steve
*flails* I am doing art! I am writing! I am busy, I promises!
get your secretary to upload more art! even doodles will suffice! ;D
Secretary? OH man, that would be awesome.
See that Mr. Steven? Get on it!
Woot! I am so excited to see this is happening! Congrats to both of you and I look forward to seeing Taven in its full glory!
<3<3 Thank you, Miss Bre! *laughs* You've been in on it from the start. Took us long enough, didn't it?!
Oooh, welcome to dual-blogging! :D That’s what my boy and I are now doing with The Android’s Closet. I also went through a similar transition, where my blogs were always known for being… well, if not squeaky-clean, at least PG rated, but I wanted the new blog to be more “us” so I relaxed that policy a bit. I think it’s working out very well! Good luck to you and I’m excited to see the result!!
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I’m glad it worked out so well for you, and it’s good to know there weren’t any unforeseen repercussions.
This makes me sad that my boything hates blogging! Le sigh.
Though in my case the lack of squeaky clean was defnitely on my part.
I’m working on mine, as well. He should feel more comfortable here than he did in the pastel candy castle I’d built before!
I’m in love with this idea. I cannot WAIT to see where this new evolution of your online presence will take you. And it will be nice to finally “meet” Steven instead of always hearing about the ethereal “Mr. Moore” through your words.
If you ever need any help/guest blogging, holler.
<3
Oh good heavens, it hadn’t even occurred to me folks might be interested in guest blogging! I may take you up on that after the fur flies. *grin*
I would love to be a guest blogger with free reign. ~mwahahahahahah~
there would be pictures. and stories.
Muahaha, I’ll have to take you up on THAT, too. <3
let me screen capture this as proof.
you DO remember we were roomates for a semester, right? ~riffles through photo album~
How could I forget? You were the best roommate EVER. <3
Even if you did pet your book at absurdly late hours (after nine PM, can you believe it?) you picked up the random shouting of "epicuticular wax" like a pro.
Some days, I miss you lots. Even if you do keep trying to feed me green beans.
I look forward to the new website even though there is so much here that I’ve yet to discover. I have to admit to being the newest Tami Moore fan! (Do we have a club? We need a club!)
Meep. I think a fan club would make me die of embarrassment. *laughs*
If you want any help finding anything, let me know. I’m hoping navigation on the new site will be more compact, too. WordPress’s menu system is quite robust!
I was looking for your outlining methodology and I found your NaNo prep series. Will you be doing NaNo again this year? I’m thinking of trying but as I’ve commented on Saucy Ink I’m scared to death!
No NaNo for me this year – I still think it’s a fabulous idea for beginning writers (heaven knows, I learned a lot from the ones I participated in) but last year’s taught me that GoGoGo is a bad writing habit for me while I’ve got a full-time job.
I’ll be posting an updated novel prep series when I’m done with the Holly Lisle course, though! And I’ll definitely be cheering along in the saucy forums – I know lots of the saucy folks will be doing it this year.
I’m going to chime in here, ahead of Tami (maybe). That’s all the more reason to do NaNo! I did it last year, but I won’t be doing it this year. November is usually a bad month for me, since we’re normally traveling, and this year’s no exception.
However, the pressure of having to produce 50K words in month is (in my judgment) GREAT practice for any beginning writer. It helps drive home the point that your first efforts aren’t going to be perfect. Instead, you just need to get used to writing.
Having to write almost 2K words a day for a month forces you to focus on simply putting words on paper (or pixels on screen). Once that first draft is done, then you can go make it pretty.
^ What Steve said.
(Man, I should wait a little while. Sometimes you guys save me the trouble of a long comment!)
I was seriously considering trying it out and had just about convinced myself to do it when Steve inadvertently hit me in the head with the 2×4 of reality. 2000 words a day?!? No possible way I can do that. I was thinking more along the lines of something I believe Pike wrote: a sentence a day.
In any case, I think I’ll give it a shot – and maybe start a support thread at Saucy Ink. Thoughts?
@Willy
Pike’s a multi-time NaNoWriMo winner – she’s done the 2k a day (actually, it’s more like 1.3k I think, but it rounds up to give you days off)
I’ll start the thread on SaucyInk – it’s getting about that time anyway. Might as well shake the tree and see what falls out!
I know Pike was exaggerating about a sentence a day, but it struck me funny so I stole it. She’s obviously talented, a quick look on the website proves it.
I think I’ll try NaNo anyway, what’s the worst that could happen? Crash and burn failure followed by public ridicule – another day at work!
Your prep course is the best! I want a tee-shirt (could we do one in manly colors?)
I think that pink is the manliest color because only men who are truly self-confident wear it. =]
Also, I just like pink.
There’s usually not a lot of ridicule for failing NaNo, but there’s lots of cheers and lessons for those who finish … I think there’s a lot for folks who KEEP GOING, even if they know they won’t “win”.
It’s the stopping in the middle that kills the victory, imo.
a fan club done the right way is lots of fun. I had a fan club for myself in college. I was the president and I always made my roommates the secretary. Please reconsider.
This is true. But your fan club got to go see you perform. And wear t-shirts.
<3
every time we read your blog, we see you perform. though you can add videos of you dancing, if you wish.
Also: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y298/ksspiff/fanclubt-shirt.jpg
(psst, I don’t know html)
OH my gooses, did you JUST make that? Of course you did.
Your mspaint skills are fabulous, and I haven’t smiled that big in AGES. Now with more muffins!
I DID use some WORD for the wordart, but the illustrations are ALL MINE!!!
I should find a way to make patches or something. I’m not much for t-shirts these days, but I immediately plastered patches all over my current bag the day I bought it.
I could try my hand at patch making… I do know how to cross-stitch. Do you want something that looks better than my pink muffin?
No way. I’d want something that looked EXACTLY like your cupcake.
I was thinking some place like zazzle might offer patches, so there wouldn’t have to be manual labor involved.
I hope friends means more Jarrod posts. On his randomness… And even if you don’t always see me commenting. I am always lurking.
I hope so, too! I’m working on it. I feel like I’m trying to coax a badger from his den with that one.
(Apparently, all I care about are the technical details.) No simple 302 redirects on tamimoore.com to tavenmoore.com? Planning on using tamimoore.com for other web-address things?
I’m hoping that tamimoore.com/blah will redirect to tavenmoore.com/blah and the internet shall make happy rainbows around it.
It shall be so.
I’m looking forward to the rainbows. Though since they’re internet rainbows, they probably have poptart cats in them.
Yes, but there’s a good chance they will be highly NSFW pornographic poptart cats. With lensflares. Hopefully, there won’t be kitty porn (wth is 18+ in cat years) or anything involving cups. Maybe you’ll just get “cats n’ racks” (Go ahead and google it if you haven’t seen it. I’ll wait.).
I will say that there is an SEO advantage to keeping tamimoore.com with a lengthy history (without 302s) and that SEO is important for internet-based self-promotion.
Brook’s comment was that you should’ve switched it to moremoores.com, but I can see that it’s already taken. And I cried a little bit when I discovered that. On the inside. (this is without liquor folks)
I wanted just taven . com and some little kid’s clothing company has been squatting on it for YEARS without using it.
I detest “Under construction” pages.
(and yes, I’ve been scoping the domain since before I bought egotisticalpriest . com)
I draw the line at lens flares. A girl’s got to have SOME standards.
You should find that little kid and punch him in the mouth. No selling clothes on the interwebz! Go to school!
The only input I have to all this is as follows, which is the random access response of my brain:
Taven Moore….
Hark, the Taven, never Moore…
followed by the inner audio of Cake’s “Never There”
I need your arms around me, I need to feel your touch
I need your understanding, I need your love so much
You tell me that you love me so, you tell me that you care
But when I need you baby, you’re never there
(trumpet solo, which is why I like Cake)
followed by another Cake song on inner audio, “Sheep Go to Heaven”
I just want to play on my pan-pipes
I just want to drink me some wine
as soon as you’re born you start dying
so you might as well have a good time
Sheep go to heaven
Goats go to hell
Sheep go to heaven
Goats… go to hell
and then the thought tying it all together…
tavenmoore..edgar allan poe…macabre writing…isolation… carefree living…go to hell..new website…Hmmmm…interesting
I am sure this is what you and Mr. Moore intended, right??
Actually … that’s a more musical representation of the way logic works for me, so yeah. I think it’s pretty accurate. *grin*
One of these days, I will listen to Cake music. Trumpet solos sound wonderful.
one of those days should be today. I’m SURE it’s all over the youtubes.
you must now listen to the above “Sheep go to heaven”, the below “I will survive” and a willie nelson song they covered “Sad songs and waltzes”
Is this the most commented thread you’ve had?
I’m not sure if it’s the most commented or not, but it’s definitely the largest in recent memory. <3
the cake is a lie
the cake is a lie
the cake is a lie
^^^ Heretic!
Now you’ve got me singing their “I Will Survive” cover. Cake has got to be the only band that successfully covered anything by Tina Turner.
I moved on to Parliament’s “Flashlight” in honor of the Tami Moore Fan Club and then thought how I really wanted a lunchbox instead of patches, which left me singing the Red Elvises “Voodoo Doll.”
I ‘m having a good time
Patching holes in my head
I’m having a good time
Can’t get better than that
I said small voodoo doll gonna touch my soul and then rock n roll
I imagined Tami Moore Fan Club patches stitched to my scalp and found that whole thing so perfect.
So when I read your comment, Brad-O-Bob, I had to wonder if Tina Turner ever had to patch her head, what with Ike and all.
Tami, I am sure there happens to be no logic in my streaming thoughts, accompanied by music and lyrics. But I do know that I have always longed for life to be a musical, which makes me love the flash mobs. I hope one day to be encounter one. In the meantime, this week my family has been narrating our lives.
“Bob gets up from the sofa to go find his keys.”
“Nick finds that action preposterous and hilarious, but keeps his thoughts to himself.”
“Bob now decides to find a big stick for beating kids with.”
It is not a musical, but it is entertaining.
Steven and I will often narrate for each other.
He’ll say something, and I’ll add in, “He said, not realizing he invoked the wrath of the wife.”
It’s fun.
Also, my favorite musical-related-thing is the Buffy Musical Episode. CLASSIC. Best. Ever.
Buffy? As in Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv series?
I have never watched that show. I think I was a mother by the time it began airing. I was probably busy watching cartoons and shows like Mighty Machines.
Oh my gooses, you’ve never seen it?
I am POSITIVE Kristen can help you – I haven’t even seen most of the series, and that one special from the series is one of the best pieces of TV I’ve ever seen.
I don’t own the series, but I can vouch for that episode. I love it.
One super short song:
“They got the mustard out!” (of my shirt)
Two good Buffy episodes:
Hush (season 4, episode 10):
http://www.logotv.com/video/episode-10-season-4-hush/1628917/playlist.jhtml
Once More With Feeling (season 6, episode 7):

And, some Duffy for your Buffy:

Cake!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=596qaxm-u4o
And I failed (or maybe you failed my test…yeah…that’s it). I was thinking Diana Ross or Gloria Gaynor, not Tina Turner. Which makes me think of a video I can’t find where Whitney Houston showed up Mariah Carey in a live duet (because Mariah tried to sing over her).
Someday, I’ll carry whole conversations on in song or video format.
God bless you, Brad-O. I will now spend my baby’s nap watching the buffy musical ~sings along with the entire first song despite not having seen it since college~
I, in fact, did not fail. Except in trusting you, Brad-O-Bob. I spent an entire day, in my head and not on the internet, which for once would have been useful instead of cumbersome, trying to think of the Tina Turner song entitled “I Will Survive.” And I kept hearing the original Gaynor and the Cake rendetitions of the correct song, but convinced myself that I was wrong and there must be some OTHER song with that title. Then I tried to remember all the Tina Turner tunes that I knew and still came up blank with that title. I was beginning to feel less than smart and very unknowledgable when I had the thought…
What if Brad-O was wrong?
That took me to the internet, where I ruled supreme again as a know-it-all. I failed to gloat, because really I was too focused on getting everything ready for Monday, when school starts. I do have my priorities and gloating is not always at the top of my list.
AND I rather forgave you already, blaming your youth for your confusion. Which is all together different than being confused and old.
Thanks for the links to Buffy episodes….now if only my babies will take naps so that I can watch them.
I’m really more of a classic rock / 90s alternative guy than I am “disco” — which is how I think I would classify that song. I have heard it in Spanish thanks to an alarm clock tbat liked to slowly change its radio station. Yo vivere! (street cred reestablished).
Alas, your youth shows. For were you of a certain age, your familiarity with that song would have little to do with your personal taste in music. Very similar to the fact that all my children know Lady GaGa and Katy Perry songs, even though none of them particularly like that music. I also happen to know all the lyrics to Journey songs, even though I have a great distaste for that band. Some music exposure is forced on you at certain ages in your life.
So I make the logical conclusion that you did not spend Friday nights at a roller rink in the late 70′s, for under those circumstances you would be quite familiar with all things disco. Now if I could only forgive myself as easily as I have forgiven you!
I’ve at least seen a roller rink (in real life, not just on “That 70s Show”). Other than that, I know disco has something to do with John Travolta, Stayin’ Alive, and a heart of glass. This reminds me of a conversation a coworker had with his doctor that started out, “At your age…”
…your forgiveness knows no bounds. ;)
