HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

by     44 Comments    Posted under: KristenSue

Hey Tami Moore Fan Club Members!  It’s a very special day today!

Merry Birthday Tami!

I’ve known Tami since the fall of 2000.  She was an incredible person back then, too.  Because she did not forbid me, I’m going to share some old pictures from our college days.

PEGASUS!

Artistic Appliances

That’s our dear Tami with her SUPER long hair, posing with her mini fridge.  She painted a Pegasus and the room inspectors never realized that we had too many appliances allowed for our room.

Wall Decor

Hmm, horses anyone?

This is her side of the room.  We both ended up putting random posters on the wall, but Tami also made herself an inspiring mural.

That guy in the pictures? Not Mr. Steven.  That’s her friend David Germanlastname.  I believe he was studying for a test of some sort.  Our room was very academic.  We did a great deal of studying in there.  I can’t remember what class Tami was taking that she had to learn about epicuticular wax.

Our room was also pretty crazytimes

Birthday Skeleton

Door Decorators

Our friend across the hallway had decorated their door for Halloween.  But when her birthday came around, Tami and I fixed that with some balloons, clip art and post-it-notes.  She also made sure our door was decorated for the holidays with appropriately themed holiday fabric.   So Festive!

One of the last days of living together (we only did so for a semester, which I don’t think was enough), I begged to let me take a picture of her.  She claimed that she wasn’t photogenic, or it wouldn’t turn out, or some such nonsense.  I tried to snap a shot when she was climbing behind the desks, but she foiled my plans.  Nice white board face there, Tami.

Sigh

That's her, promise

She really is a great person and a great friend.  She was my first real friend in college and she has a special place in my heart.

As Vice President of Actually Being President of the Tami Moore fanclub, I encourage you to share your birthday well wishes, fond memories, crazy dreams, stories about the squirrel you saw today and favorite flavor of jelly beans  in the comments today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAMI!

  • Happy Birthday TamiJean.

    • favorite jelly bean flavor?

      • Oh snap! I failed at directions. Although, I’m only going to assume you’re asking me these questions for some kind of intense market research that you plan on selling to other people. I should note that, before I answer any questions, I may or may not have suffered a head injury at the hand of my 9 month old that may or may not have caused a concussion. Just saying.

I think all of my memories of Mrs. MuffinWaffles have been fond ones (cop out answer!), except for the ones where she defected from the Republic to move to some Yankee state because it was pretty or something (laaaame) and quit working where I work. I still have my yak (read: buffalo and he still makes a “yaaaaaaaak” noise if you squeeze him) and now refer to buttons on whiteboard mock ups as the “make go now button”.

Crazy dreams? Building a go-cart with my ex-landlord? Oh. You meant MY crazy dreams. I usually forget them unless they’re disturbing and I don’t have them/remember them when I don’t get enough sleep (which is frequent). Plus, you know, the possible concussion that might be leading to a mild case of severe brain damage (i.e. “This is a hard quiz! No fair!”). Unless you mean aspirations, but I don’t see why you’d be interested in my breathing…

I know a guy that once dreamt that a cactus with led lights on it was yelling at him. He tried to run over to it to ask it why, when he woke up falling out of bed and spraining his wrist. Turns out the yelling cactus was his alarm clock.

        E for effort?

I saw a tiny squirrel scampering across the road this morning. Better was the picture I got of a squirrel trying to drink out of my sprinklers.

My favorite jelly bean flavor is, indeed, root beer. Though, I probably wouldn’t want the inside-out kind because I’m a traditionalist and, more importantly, because I bet it’s sticky.

        • I blame a lot of things on my 9 month old. yay parenthood!

        • Ok. So I slept on it (napped on it anyway). I just had a dream where someone summoned a demon named Abbadon and it posessed some random hot, blonde girl (this is because I watched an insipid episode of “The Secret Circle” last night). I punched her in the face. She laughed and punched me through a window into a tree. I flew backwards like in those crazy kung-fu movies (as in, horizontally…not in an arc). I hit the tree, but it was all a part of my plan. Below the tree was a trampoline! I jumped onto the trampoline to get out of the tree, but she followed. I jumped back into the tree to flee the demon that was now on the trampoline. CLEVER! This went on for a little while until I decided it was a stalemate (since we could just bounce back and forth forever) and rewound the dream to the part where she punched me into the tree.

Take 2. I hit the tree, fall onto the trampoline, and safely bounce to the ground. The demon follows, but is faster and more powerful than just me. So she bounces too far. Over a fence. Into a lake. Lame. Rewind.

Take 3. I’m on the ground and the demon, faster and more powerful than me, quickly bounces at me. I quickly grab a branch that fell off the tree and impale the demon. Then I grab some lighter fluid and burn her to death. No more demon.

This would’ve gone on, but I woke myself up because I wasn’t supposed to be sleeping. I’m supposed to be working on things around the house. ;)

          • Okay, awesome dream. They say folks who dream lucidly are smarter than average, and since I do not dream lucidly, I think that’s a load of bologna.

I can’t believe I guessed your favorite jelly bean flavor, that’s bizarre.

          • Thanks. I think myself, my wife, and my cat would agree with you about lucid dreaming being an indicator for intelligence. ;) I think it just means I dream weirdly.

            Doesn’t everyone like root beer?

Thanks to this post, that question, and Google, I now know that Ronald Reagan’s favorite candy was the jellybean and his favorite flavor was licorice. Blueberry jellybeans were invented for his inauguration so that they could have red, white, and blue jellybeans.

          • You know you’ve made it to the big time when they INVENT a jellybean flavor in your honor.

            Case in point: J.K. Rowling

    • <3 Thank you, Brad-O!

Also, if I had to speculate on brad-o's favorite jellybean flavor, I'd assume he would want the elusive inside-out jellybean, where it's squidgy on the outside and hard-candy center.

Also, it would be root beer flavored.

  • Happy Birthday, Tami! You rock! :D Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

    • squirrel story?

    • <3 Thank you, Pike!!

Also, Pike could probably tell an AMAZING squirrel story. I think the squirrel should be clockwork.

  • Happy, HAPPY birthday, dear Tami! And remember, if “60 is the new 40,” as some claim, you just turned 10. Again. :p

    <3 <3 <3

    • I maintain that I am about 16 and will always be that way. :D

      • Okay…that sounds about right. :D

      • And let’s see…I’m lousy at following directions. So, fave jelly bean (MUST be Jelly Belly; I won’t eat other kinds) flavor is black licorice.

Saw no squirrels today: They’re all out on Jackson Blvd, getting hit by cars. Sorry, but that’s what squirrels do here.

Crazy dream: That a friend I play WoW with was a pro golfer; unfortunately, it was several nights ago and the details are hazy.

Fond memories: The Ego days, learning how to be a WoW priest from Tami’s blog (you’re a great teacher, my dear!), and our visit in July. Good times!

        • Ew, black licorice? I guess there has to be SOMEBODY otherwise they’d never get eaten. *laugh*

          <3 Qwirkle forever!

  • Happy Birthday!

    • crazy dream?

    • Thank you, Dechion! <3

(Am I the only one who sees a grumpy man face in that cookie avatar?)

      • I do believe that’s the point of the grumpy cookie avatar :-) I always love Dech’s avatars, this one is second only to the angry carrot.

  • OH, I’m not a very good Vice-President of Something Important if I missed her birthday!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I’d also like to thank you for sharing your talents with us!

    • <3 Thank you, Willy!

I don't really advertise my birthday much, so I can hardly blame anyone for not noticing it! ^_^

  • Tami is the most inspirational girl I know – She used to come at Christmas time and we would go shopping and she discovered Wisconsin McDonald’s had Brats on the menu! She is loved by everyone, Makes you laugh and always is so possitive. She is the one neice I got to spend a lot of time with – I always lived so far away from my family, especially Tami. Her mom was a good sharer!!!! Love you Tami!!!

    • <3 D'awww, thank you, Lorge!

Also, for the record, I would never have developed that addiction to marshmallow fluff without you. ;)

  • Happy Birthday Tami!!! Mr. Moore, thank-you for the photos, always fun to see college pictures!

Fond Memories – Tami was the person who inspired me to start blogging back in the Ego days. She was always helpful and encouraging!

Crazy Dreams – the other night I dreamed that I was wandering through the neighborhood I grew up in but it was all abandoned and creepy and scary movie-like.

Didn’t see any squirrles, they’re all smart enough to stay out of this weather!

Favorite Flavor of Jelly Bean – Anything fruity, except banana

    /happybirthdaydance

Now, go make a fool of yourself in some way. That’s the best way to celebrate a birthday!

    • (psst, it was me doing the posting, not Mr. Steven) Excellent comment!

    • What weather are you having that is so hostile to squirrels, Texas-lady?

Here in Wisconsin we still have only had the one snow and it was AGES ago and didn’t stick. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop and for the beginning of 2012 to be THE YEAR OF THE BLIZZARDS or something.

I didn’t know you started blogging because of me! *blush* I’m so very glad you did!

      • It’s just wet and cold (well, it’s cold by my definition), nothing too terrible. Though if I don’t see some sunshine here real soon I think I might go into hibernation until spring.

  • birthday well wishes: ~throws a penny into the well and wishes real hard~

fond memories: only with you could I say ‘petting the carpet’ and NOT get really concerned looks.

crazy dreams: after work i went to walmart to get stuff, because i neede some more stuff. especially ponytail holders for babies. but walmart didn’t have any of those. but I still got a cart FULL of things. then at checkout i realize i dind’t have my wallet. THEN i realized I didn’t have my car keys either. I called Justin so he could at least bring me keys. I dind’ tknow what to do with the cart of stuff.

stories about the squirrel you saw today: not today, but last friday at the zoo there were a bunch of FAT SQUIRRELS. also bunny rabbits by the chimps and INSIDE the elephant exibit. Two deer crossed the road in front of me on my commute home last night.

favorite flavor of jelly beans: Dr. Pepper. coconut, rootbear. so good.

    • Goodness gracious gravy, what a lovely surprise to wake up to! Thank you, Kristen!! *HUGS, fistbump*

How on EARTH did you get so many photos of me? Normally I ran away at the sight of a camera!!

Also, BUCKETS, look at all my HAIR. *laugh* I haven’t had it past my shoulders in years.

I miss that horse poster, and my mom still uses the pegasus fridge. *grin*

(Also, I totally laughed at David Germanlastname) <3

I think I only have ONE photo of you, which I need to dig up and use as retaliation. It's only one, but HOO BOY is it a doozy. You're kissing a boy and …

      http://gifs.gifbin.com/1232550297_Dramatic%20chipmunk.gif

      … it’s NOT JUSTIN!

      • You are welcome! ~hugs~
I think I only had 2 other pictures in my photo album. TWO! and I wish I had more!

Hm, i’m kissing a boy? I can’t remember any boy kissing I’ve ever done that DIDN’T involve Justin. I’m really curious now! Please dig it up!

  • Happy Birthday, TamiJean!

I hope your day is full of laughter and slapstick comedy. The slapstick is best suited for the office, by the way.

My fondest memory of TamiJean is her cult status in my home. And that she gets so much credit for being awesome from my kids. And yet none of us have any physical memory of her. That is pretty amazing.

My craziest dream of late was the one where I was walking through a forrest and encountered some friends of ours who were arguing bitterly. I just sat on this hill and listened to the verbal assaults, while all these forrest animals surrounded me. It was rather like a Disney picture directed by Tim Burton.

I saw many birds this morning, including a beautiful cardinal perched in our live oak. But the squirrels are elusive today. (by the way, Tami, I have found my oracle tree and I hope to some day grow into it!!)

I am not sure I have a favorite jelly bean flavor, but I do know that Bertie’s Every Flavor Beans are NOT some of them.

    • Ha! I KNEW you were a Disney princess! *winner!*

      Oracle tree? Details, please!!

Now I kind of want to meet your family IN SECRET, so they don’t know it’s me, and then later on reveal that the crazy lady asking for help with her crossword was, in fact, the elusive TamiJean! (which would explain why the crossword asked things about advanced physics and egyptian mythology)

      • Next time you come to Texas, I will help you arrange this.

  • This summer there was a lot of reading about religion, spirituality, myths and pagan religions (being all different from religious religions.) One of the things that was learned about were Druids and their concept of an oracle tree…it was a shared knowledge thing, so I only have hazy, second hand information.

Everyone has an oracle tree; a tree that calls to you and should you hug the tree … something magical happens? the source of my knoweldge is out at a Christmas party tonight. Hugging the tree my just center you and give you peace, which is magical enough. Anyway, that is the basic concept of an oracle tree.

There is the most beautiful red oak tree on one of my daily routes. It is grand and powerful and I love this tree. After mentioning for the fourth or fifth time that I love the tree, it was brought to my attention that this is probably my oracle tree. I do have a deep emotional bond to it. I have not hugged it yet, as I am not sure the property owners would understand my emotional bond to their tree.

But I am sure that this is exactly the tree I want to be!!

Hope you had a great day. You can trick my family anytime you want, but don’t be too disappointed if none of us find you crazy. That is a pretty high bar.

    • Naturally, I feel the need to research more.

      1) Apparently “walking the trees in oracle” is an important programming skillset.

      2) http://healing.about.com/library/blbdaytrees.htm
I am the “fig tree” according to this website, which is interesting excepting the “likes idleness and laziness” thing, which I dislike to my detriment, as I don’t allow myself enough idleness.

      December 12 to December 21
      Fig Tree, the Sensibility
Very strong, a bit self-willed, independent, does not allow contradiction or arguments, loves life, its family, children and animals, a bit of a butterfly, good sense of humour, likes idleness and laziness, of practical talent and intelligence.

And sadly, that is all I could find.

Is your red oak tree red all year round or only in the autumn?

I am a fan of hugging trees. Excepting the ones with lots of bugs on them or sticky saps or mesquite thorns. You probably shouldn’t hug those, unless you consider pain and misery to be mystical.

  • Happiest of birthdays Ms. Priest =)

PS: This message was really sent on time.

    …No, really. I swear!

    • *laughs and hugs* Thank you, Lord Snow! <3

  • Fir Tree, the Mysterious

Extraordinary taste, dignity, cultivated airs, loves anything beautiful, moody, stubborn, tends to egoism but cares for those close to it,rather modest, very ambitious, talented, industrious uncontent lover, many friends, many foes, very reliable.

This is my astrological tree. I am anxious to share with Bob that I am an uncontent lover. He should know that about me, I think.

To be an oak, I would have had to have been born on the spring equinox. But I wasn’t.

The oak is only red in the fall, which I know for you was over several months ago, but really just started here. It was just around Thanksgiving that the trees started popping with color.

Don’t forget to add crossword clues about Druids, oracle trees, Stoics, Cynics, Buddhists, Taoists, angles, and the apostles. Also throw in music theory questions, as wellas questions about art and artists. You could link Klimt and “the Tree of LIfe” with the Druids somehow, which would be fun.

    • And pop culture like muppets (“Dr. Teeth and the — ?”) and Dr. Who.

It’s possible your family would be the only ones capable of completing this crossword.

  • Dr. Who is not part of the knowledge base, but you could definitely throw in Mighty Boosh. And opt for Adventure Time references over the muppets. Or questions about the Simpsons. That is about as pop culture as we get.

On your end, you could probably throw in some questions about RPGs, but I would not be able to give much guidance there. Halo, MorrowWind (??), Fable and StarWars I am familiar with, but there are others and I don’t pay enough attention to know what the names are.

  • I MISSED IT :C

    Happy belated birthday, Tamikins <3

I hope you had a wonderful one, and I hope your holidays are just as great :)

    • <3<3 Thank you, Miss McWin!
