Launchy
Open Source Keystroke Launcher
VERY cool tool I was introduced to for Windows.
Launchy is a free app that allows you to launch any file or application that it has indexed on your computer (you tell it where to look and what to look for) with a simple interface.
How To Use It
Press Alt+Spacebar, begin typing the name of the thing you want, hit enter when Launchy finds it (or down arrow if it doesn’t find it first, for whatever reason).
That’s it. That’s what it does.
Why I Love It
That simple task, however, allowed me to remove two large launch bars from the bottom of my screen and a handful of desktop icons, uncluttering my workspace and enhancing my calm (John Spartan).
I wholeheartedly approve.
Mac
I’ve been using a similar application called Quicksilver on my mac for years now. Finding this for my windows is like finally finding a pair of pants that fits properly.
I hope you love it, too.

Hahah…I used to use Launchy on my Mac; now I use Alfred. All are very handy. :)
Ha! I thought the name sounded familiar – it must have been your recommendation that I was recalling. I didn’t realize at the time that it worked on windows as well!
LOVE these tools.
I don’t even know how to use the start menu anymore. : )
Ha! Beautiful response. *clinks glass*
Hehe! I echo the “I don’t even…” response. The times when I quit Quicksilver and try to launch Quicksilver with Quicksilver… *shudders*
Oh man, I have SO done that. *blush*
