    • *grin* He had a scarf. what OTHER scarf could I possibly choose? (I did take some artistic liberties with the tassels)

  • Yes you can! You can forever and ever and don’t ever stop!

It’s like a combination of all of my favorite things all smushed into one image. GET OUT OF MY HEAD, WOMAN <3

And thank you. You are the most awesomest rock star ever.

    • *giggles* I DO play a MEEEEAN air guitar. *wink*

Absolutely, 100% my pleasure, madam. That’s the sort of stuff I art FOR. <3

  • I realized the other day that I have not checked into your blog in almost forever. My excuse will be that it is nearly 100 degrees everyday now and I have some sort of bug infestations and keeping the garden alive is work.

Jessica just brought me in some sunflowers that are gratitiously growing in the back forty!! That is almost as much fun as your steampunk corgi!! Not quite as colorful, but just as amazing.

So here is what reminded me that I have not visited in bit. The kids and I were in the car talking about whatnot. You know, religion, monks, prayer, regular stuff. I mentioned Gregorian chants in this discussion and noted that I once owned a Chants cd, but have misplaced it over time.

    The middle child interrupted.

“One time this kid told me that I was really, really smart and smart people are nerds. He said I must be a big nerd. Whatever. Being smart does not make you a nerd. But I am sure that if you own a cd of Gregorian chants, you are a big nerd.”

The first thought that I had was, “Damn. Brad-O owns Benedictine chants, which by Nick’s definition makes him not a nerd, leaving me as a big nerd in solitude.”

    Beneditine chants. Pfft!

You do such fun stuff. Thanks for sharing.

    • I haven’t been posting very often lately, so you’re well off the hook for not checking. I have excuses that aren’t really reasons, and none of them are as compelling as 100 degree weather. Egads.

I’m pretty sure that Gregorian Chants (or Beneditine chants, for that matter) aren’t nerdy. If you listened to Carl Sagan and Neil DeGrasse Tyson, that’s nerdy. that’s also what Mr. Moore does, so he’s nerdier than both of you combined. Tell Jessica that’s the sign of a good catch. ^_^

Sunflowers are amazing. They sell the giant sunflower heads here at farmer’s markets – the ones that have the kind of seeds that they sell in bags at gas stations. They have to wrap them in hose or tight netting to keep the birds from stealing all the seeds.

We can’t have real flowers or plants in the apartment. My cat eats them. It saves me money, since I would otherwise have cut flowers pretty often, but it does make me a little sad. No sunflowers for Tami unless they need to be dusted, which ruins some of the fun. Enjoy your sunflowers a little extra for me! <3

      • Hmmm. What if, instead of listening to Carl Sagan, you went to a lecture given by Frank Wilczek, a Noble Laureate in physics, with two other students and a physics teacher? How is that gonna rate on the nerd scale? Oh, and you still listen to De Grasse Tyson.

Or what if you spent your summer trying to learn the Clarinet Polka? Not because it was assigned, but on your own initiative. Where does that fall on the nerd scale?

Or what if you never call light anything other than electromagnetic radiation?

Tami. This family is a shoe-in to out-nerd any other group. Just one of us alone is a shoe-in for biggest nerd in the crowd. But as an singular entity, we are more nerdy than any Renaissance Fair.

        • I’m pretty sure spending a summer learning Clarinet Polka is awesome on ANY scale, nerd or no.

Also, I’m pretty sure Renfaires are geeky, not nerdy. I say this with one foot firmly in the nerd camp and the other in the geek camp. I am arguably more geeky than nerdy.

  • He reminds me of Wiley Coyote. Only instead of road runner he’s out to get Sylvester.

    • *laughs* It does seem like he should have some classical chase music playing, doesn’t it? ^_^
