Pre-Post Post
This is a post to tell you that I’m going to make a post.
(waitwaitwait, please don’t run!)
The next post that goes up on my blog (Monday) will involve an item that I ship to you. I am pretty sure this will be open to worldwide addresses.
(I am not using the obvious word for the giving of a thing because I am deliberately avoiding phishing.)
The ONLY people eligible to enter this … giving of a thing are people who have already commented on my blog.
If I can do a search for your name or email address and find a match in the comments, you are a valid entrant.
What this means is that THIS POST is your last opportunity to de-lurk and say hello so that you have the chance to win … the thing.
(hint: most of you are probably interested in the thing)
You can reply to this post with:
- just say hello
- or tell me something about yourself
- or tell me your favorite book or author
- or tell me your favorite piece of fiction that I have written
(Naturally, that last one would be my preference!)

Wait? So I have to like write something down here? Horrible!
Seriously though, most favorite thing you have written…that is REALLY hard to narrow down!
I would have to say Taxadermist, though Choose is so freaking awesome, but then again, I really got a kick out of Blue Moon and I have even touched on the stuff not published yet! How can you do this to me!
Forget it. I love them all. I can not pick a favorite. It is cruel and the others will need therapy later.
<3 *lovelove*
/delurks
/laughs
And yeah, what Bre said. All of it, in that order. Pretty much. Don’t even get me started on my favorite work of yours that you haven’t written.
And now that I’ve read Ted’s comment . . . how could I have omitted Stained??? (And you know how I feel about multiple punctuation!) Stained probably fits both of the categories I cited above. <3
*laugh* I’d be curious to know which you’re most looking forward to seeing polished!
All of it, dammit! All of it!
PUBLISH ALL THE THINGS!
Seriously, though? It’s a tossup between Blue Moon and Stained (although I might have to give a slight edge to Stained, only because I’ve read a couple iterations of Blue Moon).
*surprised laugh*
Duly noted, dear sir. Duly noted.
You know I’m like the Vice President of the Taven Moore fan club. I love your stuff.
I loved the bit of Stained that I read, and I hope you return to that world some day. As soon as I get an eReader (Santa Claus!) Choose is the first thing I’m downloading.
The Taxidermist was wonderful.
But my favorite? It’s got to be Love’s Champion. The story was amazing, and the character so vivid and real I thought he could walk right off the stage.
<3 Gads, it feels so ... good to hear love for Stained. I struggled with that one so much, but knowing that there was a spark in there that OTHER people could see? That makes me feel better. <3<3
I am very VERY happy with Love's Champion, and I'd love to revisit that world again. We do have a novel-sized plot that would work well there ... but DragonSpark must come first!
Blue Moon. I’m pretty sure I was in your presense when parts of it were written, making it more awesome. Also, I have a signed copy that includes the word ‘bankery.’ Acutally, this graphing calculator sitting right here? in front of me? It has a sticker in the cover. that sticker lovingly says “I ganked a bagel from the Bankery” ~hugs~
I think you were my roommate for a healthy portion of Blue Moon, actually!
I still can’t look at a banana without imagining it as a raygun.
You’ll NEVER guess which one mine was *rolleyes
/cackle
I might have an idea or two…
Love ALL your stuff! Taxidermist is probably my favorite, although I really really really want to see Stained get completed.
It’s safe to say that you are the biggest reason I started writing. Before that, before I read all of your helpful posts and got encouragement from you, I’d only ever daydreamed about the possibility of writing.
Thank you!
Wow that is … a lot more love for Stained than I had anticipated. I suppose I let my own frustrations with it get in the way of what it actually did well.
I am SO GLAD you’re writing now. The reading world is already enriched, and I can’t wait to get a copy of your first book and tell people “this guy? I knew this guy before he wrote”.
It’s gonna be awesome.
. . . and all of us (commenters) are going to pick up your first megahit and say, “This gal? Yeah . . . I’m one of the ones who kept kicking her in the butt and telling her that ‘good enough’ was actually pretty damned good‘.” (Only I’m the only one old enough to actually say “gal” and make it sound legit.) ;)
Assuming I don’t die from the shock of having a “megahit”. *laugh*
*hugs*
You didn’t realize anyone liked “Stained,” either. :p
*hugs*
I gotta agree with Steve.
I appreciated your comments about my writing, but inside I was saying “we all know it’ll be the other way around.”
I’ve actually said to my family “I’m gonna be able to say I knew Tami Moore before she became a star!”
I am doing my damndest to be worth having friends as awesome as you guys. Seriously.
*lovefest, catered with cupcakes*
oh yeah? We’ll I’m going to be able to say I knew her when she was an engineering student! And that I almost blew up her computer when I vacuumed the carpet! (you knew about that, right?) ~preens her Tami Knowing Importance~
Seriously though, get those publishers in line because I want to see you be famous now.
Technically, it’s not the publisher’s faults. I mean, I did have my short story rejected, but I haven’t finished a whole novel since Blue Moon. I don’t think Choose counts.
KristenSue DEFINITELY wins! I think. When did Mr. Moore come into the picture time-wise? Of course, there’s always her parents…they’ve got us beat.
Seriously though, I’m happy you’ve let me enjoy your circle of friends. This is lots of fun!
(blew up her computer with a vacuum cleaner? – wait – you vacuumed a dorm room?)
*grin* Mr. Moore has a full year ahead of KristenSue. And neither of my parents are the fantasy-reading type. Technically, Mr. Moore is my co-author so I’d say Kristen was my very first fan. (and the best roommate EVER, even if she did try to kill my computer)
I’m basically pre-Historic.
“Muppet Wars” has, by far, the coolest title : )
*laugh* and oddly, the darkest concept! I could totally see something like that going viral, particularly if I did art to accompany it.
I know my name is all over your comments sections for the most part but I couldn’t resist BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW HOW I LIKE TO TALK
SO
HI
Also, we just accidentally obtained a cat. Looking for names. He is black with copper eyes and loves to kiss our faces and get belly rubs. :3 My current top 3 names are Binx, Toki, and Freddie Purrcury. Zach absolutely hates at least 2 of those. :P
HI BACK. <3
I love Toki, but it's a girl's name in my head (Princess Mononoke REPRESENT!). Binx is super fun, but because it ends in an 'X' you'd end up calling him Binxy and that's not as much fun.
Jynxie is super fun. Also, I love the names of the cats in the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. Chaos, Trouble, Fiddlesticks, Scorn, Jasper.
If we went with Toki, his full name would be Toki Wartooth, after a character in Metalocalypse. Toki is the best because he’s cute and childlike and loves cats :D (that’s the only name of those 3 that Zach would tolerate :))
Chaos or Trouble /definitely/ suits him. Jasper is fantastic because every time I look at him, J names seem to come to the front of my mind. We also toyed around with Oenomaus, but ugh. I don’t know if I’m up for explaining my cat’s name every time someone asks haha :P
Is it “Tock-y” or “toe-key”? Love Wartooth as a last name, that’s awesome.
It’s Toe-key. I feel that it rolls off of the tongue quite nicely. Tokitokitoki
And I remembered why J names are totally doing it for me – The end of his tail curls into a J no matter what position it’s in :3
<3 I shall demand a photo.
Immediately.
SHARE WITH ME THE PHOTO. For great justice!
Have you ever thought about Riki like from RikiTikiTavi? Or how about Tavi?
Ahahahaha, I love that. I can just hear Courtney strolling through the house, calling her cat. “heeeeeeere Rikki! Rikkitikkitavi! Heeeeere boy!”
<3!
Also? I am clearly going to solicit help naming my next pet on this blog, because you guys are awesome.
/delurks
hai! long-time reader.. less frequent commenter :p
I really liked your old Vonya stories and Choose ofcourse!
Oooh, someone who liked Vonya stuff! Was it The Reluctant Mistress stuff, or something else? (or just the blog in general?) :D
Welcome to the world of the delurken. Delurked. Unlurked. SPOTLIGHT.
“someone”? You are kidding, right? Vonya is who got me “hooked on Tami.” (Well, besides all the awesome Egotistical Priest stuff, which is why I came there in the first place, but that quickly became overshadowed by your _real_ talent!)
*laugh* I didn’t know you liked the Vonya stuff either, Mr. Hall!
Pretty sure I commented, back in the day . . . and I know I told you that in person, once. :)
I have a memory like a finely-tuned sieve. I forget almost anything (excepting, of course, the painfully embarrassing stuff. Brain would hate for me to forget those.)
I AM DELURKED although I think we talk on twitter sometimes.
I wanted to talk about Ben Aaronovitch – he’s currently on the third book of an urban fantasy series set in london, and starring a black police officer wizard. It’s quite unlike a lot of other entries in the ‘genre’ and I really wish more people could find time for it. It feels a little like the Dresden Files, but from a police perspective rather than a PI, and is probably more ‘satire’ and less emo.
And it’s awesome. /rave
I do remember you from twitter, though I’ve had to go under the radar and twitter fell off (*kicks work blocker software*) so I’ve been dreadfully silent there of late.
That book sounds EXACTLY like something at least two people I know would love. Not including myself.
It looks like the first book in that series might be Midnight Riot? Sent a sample to my kindle.
http://www.amazon.com/Midnight-Riot-ebook/dp/B004C43F70/ref=tmm_kin_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1345208878&sr=8-3
I think that is the first book – they confusingly renamed them for the US market.
Bleh, I hate it when they do that. In most cases, it’s not for any good reason except marketing, which seems trixy and uncomfortable.
Also? Your blog looks amazing and has fantastic content. <3
Awww, thank you ;) I think you may have read my ‘Mental Shaman’ blog a while back too.
Mental Shaman was you? I read that blog for a while. I had an Ele/Enh Dwarf Shaman alt for a while. That blog really helped me play her. Thanks!
Hi! I actually have commented before but I’ve been lurking for a while. You know, real life things…BUT I had a wonderful, crazy insane dream last night that was basically my brain saying THIS IS A STORY! WRITE IT, YOU FOOL! So I’m back, and excited!!
Hmm…favorite thing you’ve written…it’s hard, you know. It might have to be Choose. I LOVE Choose. Although, even though I’ve never read any of it, from the descriptions on the blog Stained sounds really good and like something I would totally buy at the bookstore (that’s high praise by the way – I’m out of room for books and am severely limited in what I can purchase in print form). I think I have to read the Taxidermist – is there a print version somewhere? I’ll look – because originally you posted it as an audiobook and I am such a visual person that I am actually incapable of listening to audiobooks. But I think I would like that one too, from the little I managed to hear before I freaked out and stopped :)
Oh, P.S. How does one acquire a little picture next to their name? Please forgive my internet stupidity in this area.
<3 I love it when stories stand up and demand to be paid attention to! (Also, yay for subsequent delurking!)
Taxidermist is actually available as part of the Saucy Chronicles I: The Unicorns collection.
http://www.amazon.com/Saucy-Chronicles-I-The-Unicorns/dp/0615631789/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345409138&sr=8-1&keywords=saucy+chronicles
I feel your pain on the audiobooks. Recently, I've found a few that seem to lend themselves very well to audiobooks, but inevitably, I find that my attention has wandered and I have missed something important!
Stained was a NaNoWriMo attempt from 2 years ago … and it kind of reads like an aborted nano novel. *laugh* It still has lovely gems in it, but I wouldn't release it as-is except to very forgiving people. Not only is it incomplete, it's obviously written in a rush.
Yes, I remember stained from the NaNo prep posts…my point was more that if it were complete, I’m sure I would love it :)
And thanks for the link! I’ll check it out.
If you’re feeling like sharing, I’d love to hear that writing idea that’s got you all fired up. :D
Oh, um…not sure it’s ready for that, but here goes nothing:
Basically, I was having a dream about a city. Half of it is lovely – the houses are stone, there are parks, fountains, maybe a castle or something. The other half is basically rubble, with lots of wooden shanties built up everywhere and a huge wall separating it from the nice half. Some kind of battle had just taken place. In my dream it was aliens (I was watching War of the Worlds yesterday) but it will probably end up being some kind of mutated humans, affected by leftover magic from a previous epic magical war.
There was some other stuff – a female mage, her uncle the leader of the city beheading someone, some backstory about her parents who eloped and were assassinated, another mage who suffers from dissasociative episodes…I’m not really sure where everything fits in because it was sort of like I was watching one scene unfold. I don’t know where I would want to start the story, or even what the plot would really be. I feel like I have to do some more exploring before I make that kind of decision.
Ooh, that sounds really promising! And you’re right — more worldbuilding before you have a plot is a GOOD thing. Some folks rush into the plotting and neglect to make the world a part of the plot. *thumbs up*
Oh goodness, I just realize I never answered your question about the little picture, Faith! My apologies.
It’s gravatar.com — whatever email address you typically comment under, you can assign a picture to it. =]
Lots of blogs use them, so it’s not just something I set up for myself.
Thanks Tami :) I actually did a little googling and found the website so I’m all set!
